Ordering a ring online can feel like a gamble when every country uses a different sizing system. A size 54 in Europe? A size 7 in the US? An N in the UK? They're all the same ring — but the numbers couldn't be more confusing.
At Orosenda, we source rings from artisans across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. That means our rings arrive labeled in different sizing systems. This guide makes it simple: find your size in one system, and instantly know it in every other.
How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
Before diving into the conversion chart, here's how to find your size accurately:
Method 1: Measure an existing ring
Take a ring that fits the finger you want to measure. Place it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter in millimeters. Use the chart below to find your size.
Method 2: The string/paper method
Wrap a thin strip of paper or string snugly around the base of your finger. Mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimeters. This is your circumference — use the chart to convert.
Pro tips:
- Measure at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger
- Measure in warm conditions — cold shrinks your fingers
- If between sizes, go up (you can always add a ring adjuster)
- Wide bands (6mm+) need about half a size larger than thin bands

Which Sizing System Do We Use?
Since Orosenda is based in Germany and sources from European artisans, most of our rings use the EU/DE system. This system measures the inner circumference in millimeters — so a "size 54" ring has a 54mm inner circumference.
Why Do Sizes Differ Between Countries?
There's no universal standard for ring sizing. Different regions developed their own systems:
- EU/DE (and FR, BE, IT, ES, NL): Based on inner circumference in mm
- US/CA: Arbitrary numbering system
- UK/AU: Alphabetical system (A through Z)
- JP (Japan): Numbered system starting from 1
Common Sizing Mistakes to Avoid
Don't measure in the morning. Your fingers swell throughout the day. Evening measurements are more accurate.
Don't forget about knuckles. If your knuckle is significantly wider than the base of your finger, measure both and pick a size in between.
Don't ignore the band width. Go up half a size for wider bands (6mm+).
